How to Register
Option A – Register online and pay the test fee by Credit Card
You must have a valid credit card with you to avail the online booking facility.
•Log on to www.ieltsidpindia.com
•Select the option “Register for IELTS”
•Select your test date and test city (you will see the seat availability status)
•Complete the on-line application form
•Pay the test fee by credit card (Master / Visa)
•Get instant seat booking and acknowledgement
You MUST courier the following to IDP head office
IDP Education India Pvt. Ltd
6th Floor, Plot No.32, Global Business Square, Sector 44, Gurgaon-122003 (Haryana),India.
and also bring the following along with you on the day of the test (both speaking and listening, reading, writing test)
•Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page), AND any observation pages. Failing which you will NOT be allowed to sit the test.
•Once your registration is complete you will see a confirmation on your computer screen (you must print and bring this on the day of the test). A copy of the confirmation will also be sent in hard copy or on the e-mail address provided when you completed the application form.
Option B – Register in Person at IDP branch or Input Node
Walk into any IDP branch/head offices or the nearest Input Node and use any of the following methods to register:
Method – I
•Register online using the computer at the office and make payment of test fee by Credit card, get immediate confirmation of your seat (this is identical to online registration)
•Hand over Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages.
•Hand over the Terms & Conditions document duly signed
•Take the instant acknowledgement letter confirming your seat in the test.
Method – II
•Take an application form and complete the same
•Sign the terms and conditions sheet attached to the application form.
•Attach Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages
•Pay the test fee either;
•by Credit card or Debit card / ATM card, or
•by Demand Draft (demand draft must be drawn in favour of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, Payable at New Delhi”) and should be made from any bank listed in the approved banks list in the Terms & Conditions document
•by depositing cash in ICICI bank branch via a customized ICICI deposit slip which can be either downloaded from IDP website or taken from IDP branch office or from any input node. The original customer copy of the customized ICICI deposit slip needs to be handed over to IDP branch office or the input node as a payment proof.
•Request the IDP branch staff or input node to enter your application form in the online registration system immediately and give you the acknowledgement of your booking and a tentative seat reservation, thereby ensuring a seat for yourself. Please note that your confirmation will be subject to the realization of the Bank draft (if you have paid the fee by bank draft)
Option C – Register by Courier and pay test fee by Demand Draft or ICICI deposit/Allahabad deposit slip
Input Download the application form from, https://www.ieltsidpindia.com. Alternately, collect the application form, from the nearest IDP branch office or Node.
•Complete the application form
•Attach Photocopy of your Passport (first and last page) AND any observation pages
•Attach the Demand Draft for the test fee (demand draft must be drawn in favour of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, Payable at New Delhi” and drawn on any bank listed in the approved banks list in the Terms & Conditions document) or attach the original customer copy of the ICICI deposit slip depositing cash in nearest ICICI bank branch
•Send the completed application form with all attachments and the test fee to;

The application will be processed upon receipt and the seat allotment for your selected date will be subject to availability

Transfer or Cancellations
Please download the Transfer/Cancellation Application form and policy from the Downloads section. The form is also available with IDP branch offices.
Request for Transfer of Test Dates : An administrative charge of INR 2,950 (Two Thousand Nine Hundred Fifty only) (including Service Tax) is applicable.
Payment can be made by Credit Card/Debit Card at IDP branch office or through demand draft or direct cash deposit at any branch of ICICI bank using customized pay-in slip. Demand Draft to be drawn in favour of “IDP EDUCATION INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED”, payable at New Delhi and drawn on any bank listed in the approved banks list in the Terms & Conditions document, available in the section.

Complete the application form and submit/courier the same to the nearest IDP branch/head office or node. (The application is subject to approval as per terms and conditions mentioned in the Transfer and Cancellation/withdrawal policy).

Complete the application for and submit/courier the same, along with the fee of INR 8,850 (Rupees Eight Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty only) (including Service Tax) is applicable.

Tips for completing the IELTS test application form
Please do take care in completing correct information (after checking with original documents, where necessary), as this information will be reflected on your TRF (Test Report Form).
A question by question guide on completing the forms from IDP India
NOTE: You must fill the form CLEARLY using CAPITAL LETTERS.
Test City: You will see a rubber stamp with a box. Please write the name of the city from where you wish to appear for the test. The cities where test is held is given on the date sheet “National Test Dates.”
- Question No. 1: Please select your preferred date from the “National Test Dates”. You must provide two choices, just in case the first selection is not available (in case of completing the paper form)
- Question No. 2:This is the Surname and must be the same as it appears on the Passport. Please check this with your passport before completing. If your Surname does not fit in the available box, please use the boxes in the next line. Please remember to check any observation pages on your Passport
- Question No. 3: Please fill the appropriate title
- Question No. 4:Here you must enter your First Name or the Given name. Be sure that you write your First Name as it appears on your Passport. Please remember to check any observation pages on your Passport
- Question No. 5: Be sure to give full address including your PIN code. If you provide incomplete address your TRF may be returned undelivered.
- Question No. 6: It is suggested that you provide your Mobile number as you will receive SMS alerts from the test centre
- Question No. 7:Please provide your Email ID. It is suggested that your provide your most frequently used Email ID, as you will receive important communication from the test centre on your Email.
- Question No. 8: Please provide your Date of Birth. Please ensure that your date of birth is the same as mentioned on your Passport.
- Question No. 9:Please select your Gender. Circle “M” for male and “F” for female as the case may be.
- Question No. 10: You must “tick mark” ‘Passport’ and provide your Passport Number. Please be sure that your passport is valid at least up to the test date. There is NO alternate ID accepted other than the Passport.
- Question No. 11:Provide the code number of the country where you were born. If you are born in India, please put ‘089’ in the code. The full code list is given on ‘Page ii’ of the IELTS application form.
- Question No. 12:The first language means your “Mother Tongue”, for e.g., Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu…. etc. Please select the appropriate first language code from ‘Page iii’ of this form. If you language is not listed, please write 000 in the box and write your language name in the small box given below the code.
- Question No. 13: Please refer to ‘Page iv’ of the IELTS application form for the appropriate code and example.
- Question No. 14: Please refer to ‘Page iv’ of the IELTS application form for the appropriate code.
- Question No. 15: Please select and ‘tick mark’ the box as applicable
- Question No. 16: Please be very careful when choosing the module i.e. Academic or General Training. It is best to check this from your University or the recognizing body as to which module you must take. Please remember it will be very difficult to change your module at a later date.
- Question No. 17: Normally you must tick ‘Pen and Paper Test’.
- Question No. 18 & 19: Please refer to ‘Page iv’ of the IELTS application form for the appropriate code and example.
- Question No. 20: This is optional and you may consider leaving this as blank.
- Question No. 21: Please ‘tick mark’ as appropriate
- Question No. 22: Please circle the option applicable to you
- Question No. 23: If you have any special needs due to medical reasons, please tick ‘Yes’. However, before completing the form, please consult the nearest test centre office.

You can register for IELTS quickly and easily either online or by post/courier.
To register, simply follow the steps below:

DECIDE WHICH VERSION OF THE TEST IS RIGHT FOR YOU
There are two versions of the IELTS test:
IELTS Academic: this is recommended for candidates who plan to undertake academic study.
IELTS General Training: this is recommended for candidates to use at work, work-related training or for migration.
Read our simple guide to help you decide which version of the test is right for you. It is strongly recommended that you also check with the organizations you wish to apply to before you book your test.
CHECK THE IELTS TEST DATES
There are a limited number of places for all our IELTS test sessions. IELTS test with the British Council are very popular, so we recommend that you register one month prior to make sure you get a place. Check the IELTS test dates
You can use our online registration system to find up-to-date information about test dates and availability or else contact one of our centers to register in person.
Please note: Your Listening, Reading and Writing tests will be completed on the same day. Your Speaking test may be offered on the same day, or up to a week before or after your main test day. You will receive a notification if your Speaking test is on a different day from your main test day 5 days before the test.
The registration fee for IELTS is INR 11,800
Register online by completing the following two steps.
•Complete the application form online and choose the test date.
•Pay online by credit card/debit Card (Visa, Visa electron, Master Card)
•Download the IELTS registration form.
•Complete your details and choose the test date
•To pay by cash or demand draft visit the nearest ICICI bank with the ICICI payment slip
CHOOSE YOUR PAYMENT OPTIONS
If registering online/ via post/ via courier you can pay using the following methods:
•Cash (make cash payment at any ICICI bank branch by filling in the ICICI payment slip)
•Demand Draft (send a demand draft drawn in favour of ‘British Council’ payable at Delhi along with a copy of the online registration confirmation / completed application form.
Please note: Cash or credit/debit card payment for IELTS fees is not accepted at our office.
PREPARE AND SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS
Candidates who apply using the online application form and are paying online by Credit/Debit card:
•No documents required.
Candidates who apply using the online application form and are paying by Cash or Demand Draft must submit the following documents:
•A copy of the IELTS Test application acknowledgement that they receive by email after registering online.
•Evidence of the payment made (either the demand draft or the ‘British Council copy’ of the ICICI payment slip). The documents must be received at our Gurgaon Office within 3 days from the day of registering for the test. This will enable us to confirm your booking. If paying at ICICI Bank, candidates are required to upload the deposit slip duly stamped and acknowledged by the ICICI bank in thecandidate areaOpens in a new tab or window..
Candidates who apply using the physical application form and are paying by Cash or Demand Draft must send:
•The completed IELTS application form.
•The evidence of the payment made (either the demand draft or the ‘British Council copy’ of the ICICI payment slip).
AFTER YOU REGISTER
Those registering online will receive an email confirming payment receipt and containing access details to our free online preparation course – Road to IELTS. Your test date is confirmed once you receive this email.
Those registering by post/courier will receive a confirmation receipt and Road to IELTS access details within 7 days of receipt of your document. You will receive an email confirming payment receipt and containing access details to our free online preparation course.

The British Council offers IELTS tests in 42 locations in India.
We recommend that candidates book their test place before the registration deadline. The tables below show the upcoming test dates in all cities. Please check for availability when you register online. Please note, once all the test places have been assigned and the session is full, you will not be able to see it on the online registration system.
